Coolant hose question

I am about to order a standard 26x19 sbc radiator for my lt1. I was curious as to what the bottom driver side fitting that routes up to the water pump is for exactly and if I can do away with it since the standard radiators do not come with such a fitting. Thanks!

Re: Coolant hose question

Anyone know what the purpose of that line is and can it be blocked off?

Re: Coolant hose question

It's the 'coolant bypass' line [for the optional 'oil cooler'
Yes, it can be blocked off, or better yet use a Y or also a B body pump[those won't HAVE the 'extra hose' provision on the pump..] Heater hose locations are SLIGHTLY different but easier to deal with that then that 'extra hose'
See:

From shoebox 'site..
