coolant flush help

So me and a buddy are changing the coolant in his 96 ss. We flush the coolant and refill with the fluids. Now the car just over heats. Looks like the t stat does not open. Whats up?

Re: coolant flush help

Did you burp the system to get all the air out? There are 2 bleed screws on the top most coolant hoses that need to be bled to get all the air out. Also check the coolant level in the over flow tank to make sure there some there.

Re: coolant flush help

change the tstat and change the radiator cap. bleed the system as well, but regardless if your tstat is not opening...then thats the reason why your car is overheating
