Coolant fans not working

Ok i noticed the other day my car was trying to overheat while stopped at a light the other day. I pulled over to check the fuse for the fans b/c it has blown one before it was ok. Then i checked the water level and it was good to. I noticed that the fans will come on with the A/C on bu they wont come on by themself. I have replaced the Temp. sensor and bled the system for air. I dont know what else to do. I also bought a new relay and put it in place of each of the three fan relay and still nothing. i am stumpped. Really need some help summer in texas isnt fun with the heater on.

Well from what I read is that our cars were made to run hot.... Mine does the same thing so I dont worry cause I know they will come on after it hits 220 degrees (thats when the fans kick in)...
If you wanna try another way to see if your fans work is to disconnect the wire to the MAF while the car is running and they should come on...
OR.... Get a new thermostat 160 degree and get a Hypertech and reprogram the computer for the fans to come on at a certain temp...
Or.... Get a manual fan switch.

well i checked the power to the relays and the number one relay is the only one getting power the # 2 and 3 are not. I guess this mean theres a wire cut or burned somewhere but i have no idea where to start.

How hot is it getting? The fans aren't programmed to come on (stock) until it's pretty hot (around the 3/4 mark on the gauge). If it's not coming on it sounds like there may be a problem with the PCM not turning the fans on. In this case you may need to replace the PCM or use a manual fan switch. I would have a look at the wire from the PCM that triggers the fans and make sure it's ok.

BTW, from your discription it sounds like the coolant fan curcuit (relays, etc.) is functioning correctly. The thrid relay is only used in high speed mode (with the second fan also working) and I'm not even sure under what circumstances the fans goto high speed. I have a fan switch and I've never seen the PCM turn the fans on high speed. The only way I get high speed is if I turn it on manually.

Here is some reading on the cooling system. Maybe this will help you decide if you have a problem or not.
