coolant fan

Apparently I have a coolant fan problem. While the car is moving it cools fine. but as soon as I get in traffic or lights the temp begins to climb. I have a 97 Lt1. I am new to this vehicle. Most likely cause? Relay?
Any input appreciated
Thanks, Glenn

As a new member, go to Shoebx.com to begin with and then do search on this site. After these 2 steps come back to site and see if you get any onter responses.

That would be http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech1.html.

All cars with electric fans heat up when you stop. That is normal.

Info.

Shoebox and Bubba. Thanks very much. Good info. I don't think I have near the problem I thought I had. Thanks again, Glenn

I didn't know how many pages of posts it would take to get it right, so I thought I would save you the trouble.

More than likely a relay. Hopefully not an ECU signal interuption. Those can be a pain to track down.

Doesn't sound like he has a problem at all, just normal for the conditions in which he is driving. If his temp gauge was pegged in the red, then I would start to worry. You also have to figure these cars do run warm from the factory.
