Coolant Cross-over Line
Coolant Cross-over Line
To my understanding, people just cut the metal part and then run a rubber hose back to the heads?
I'm not sure if I want to do that, so how do you get the lines off the back of the heads?

I guess you can just unbolt it from each head ....that is if you can get to the bolts. Youll need to get new washers when you put it back on.
What alot of people do, as you mentioned, is simply cut the line at a place that can be gotten to and then use a hose and clamps to reconnect them .....no big deal.

It's a special bolt with holes for the coolant to flow through.

j/k
Looks like a 7/16s to me?
LOL...Didn't I already answer this question in your other thread?
Taking the heads off with the coolant crossover still bolted to them isn't a big deal. These heads are extremely light.
Just call up a buddy, offer him a few frosty beverages for a few minutes help.
You've just got to onbolt them. Once they're loose, one guy grabs one, the other grabs the second one, and you walk them to the front of the car.
Putting them on goes like this. Get the banjo fittings/crossover started in each head, but leave them loose (it would be a tough task to get them at the right angles because the heads sit at an angle on the block. Walk them on with your buddy, and once the heads are in place, tighten the banjo fittings down. They're not too hard to tighten in the cramped space, but I wouldn't want to try to get the fiitings started into the aluminum heads with so little room (can you say CROSSTHREAD).
This is actually EASIER than trying to get back there to tighten hose clamps....

Oh well, I just felt like making you work more.

*If i can't get the bolts off with the heads on, I'll just have someone help me.

They'll come off. 15mm is think is right, goes quicker with the gear wrench. Just be careful to grab the bolt so it doesn't drop down somewhere
I took mine off by myself and put them back on by myself (with heads on each time). You will probably need new washers.
Good luck.
