Converter locks at WOT in lt1s...not ls1s. Why?
I was trying to convince a couple ls1s guys that the converters lock at wot in 3rd on the lt1s. For that matter, it does the same with 3rd gen fbodys as well. My point was proven when, on the dyno, a friend was having his 396 95 Z tuned, and the converter went into lockup at 5200 rpms. My question is, why doesn't it do it with ls1s? I noticed a 2mph drop when I changed trannys from the 4l60e to 700r4, mainly because I think I may be getting converter slippage that's not there when the converter is locked.
I do not know but my guess is to help the trans stay together so GM has less warranty work on the A4s.
Lock up at WOT is tough on some of the parts, it does have its benefits but.....
LT1s lock up at 95MPH unless it has been programmed differently.
My car picked up nothing locking sooner or later or none at all. Yank ST3500s must be effecient?!?!!?
I miss all that with the TH350....
