I'm actually only interested in red. I'd be open to white if I found a 1LE.

you would be amazed how handy that useable cup holder on the 97+ models. If you were going with a firebird id say any year. For camaro though id go with a 97 but thats what id perfer, its your car so its up to you.

I do not eat or drink in my cars. The cup holders usually are relegated to a cell phone holder.

I have driven no less than 3...likely more. I will give you the debate on the trans, the fuel injection on the other hand is NOT as efficient as sequential fuel injection. 94 gave you standard keyless entry, CD players, leather seats, MAF and oh yea CAGS...wait maybe I should not have said that...Do you actually like the yellow accents in the interior? It dates the car in my opinion, but my opinion is exactly that...just mine. Anyways, I love 4th gen LT1 cars, whether it's a 93 or a 97. That said, some are better buys than others, and with the used car climate the way it is right now why would I suggest he settle for a 93 if he doesnt have to? I am not trying to insult your late... it is sold right...93 that you obviously cherished so deeply. Dont take offense to such a trivial element of minutia, there are bigger debates to be had like...well, why do things the easy way and buy an LS1 when you could work just a little harder and buy an LT1? Oh well.

2 more pennies.

As sometimes the under 5k is junk can be true...I bought my 96 Z28 for 4500, I had been looking for a while but the "deal" is out there. My car is 96z28 6spd T-top, beautiful teal blue metallic that had 89k. Only thing it needed was a tune up and of course mods!

My point is, look for a while till you find exactly what you want for what you want to pay and you will find it.

About 2 months ago I was on the way home from work when I spotted a 94 Z-28 for sale (black, rag-top, 6 speed, stock stock stock) basically the perfect LT1 car. Anyways, as I walked up on it the sign said 23,000 miles and I thought to myself that it was a mistake. I called the guy and as it turns out this car sat in a single owners garage since it was new! He drove it to work a few times and thought it was too rough for him, as he also had a similar year Cadillac. This car looked like it just rolled out of the St. Therese plant! He wanted 7,000 for the car and if I could have afforded it at the time I would have easily paid 10K!

As a current 93 owner, and having driven more LT and LS cars than I care to remember, I can tell you the LT is "rougher" than the LT. Now as for year differences between the LT's.....I find it more myth than anything else. The 700R4 is the same trans as the 4L60, just a name change. The 4L60E adds electronic control as opposed to cable control. Either way they are the same internally, aside from the solenoids. Pick your fight. The vented opti in the later cars....IMO doesn't help any. I've seen plenty of Vented go and plenty of non vented go. You are better off buying a quality replacement than cheaping out. That's where the problem is. As for the FI controls. Yeah, a MAF system is likely to get you better mileage around town.....but the SD system has been around and proven for a very long time. And IMO works just fine (mine gets 17.5 mpg around town and 21 on the highway at 80 mph). I personally have no problem with yellow gauges either, it reminds me of my dearly missed 90. And the junk under $5K.....I bought mine for $4K with 88K miles, and it's the cleanest 4th gen I've seen around here. The chassis looks new, and the only thing I've "had" to do to it was plugs. I didn't even bother with the wires, they're fine. So if you know what you're looking for and you can car shop, you can find good deals, now more than ever. Shop wisely and get what appeals to you, and you'll have a car that you'll never want to get rid of.....just another $.02
