I need to know what the stock sizes are for a '95 LT1 connecting rods. I've got a set of Eagles with the following sizes and need to know if they will work in a stock rebuild.
Center to center 6.2"
Big end bore 2.225"
Pin bore .928"
Anyone know!?

Sorry the fat end of the rod is 2.225. 2.1 is the crank. Don't forget you need the clearance for the bearings. Stock are 5.7 long. Were you planning on changing the compression ratio? You could use the 6.2's but you would need to change to a smaller compression height piston. Dished too. I'm using a 3.75 stroke with a 6 inch rod. The stock 3.48 stroke with a 6.2 would work.
badass383......you need to check into your numbers.the rods are 2.100 the mains are 2.500 on every lt1 i have ever seen.plus the guy asked if they would work in a stock rebuild so his answer is no.also the lenth of the rod will affect only the compression height.there is no affect on the compression ratio so there is no need for dished.

Scuse me ********, rods for 350's use a 2.225 crank jurnal. The crank is 2.100 with bearings of .062 on each side of the crank, the rod has to be 2.225. When you shop for rods you buy them for 2.100 cranks but the rods themselves are 2.225. I got 8 stock rods I pulled out and 8 Oliver rods that are 6 inch and quess what, they all have 2.225 crank journals. But since you never built an engine you wouldn't know this. Stay where you belong. out of technical conversations.

You can use the rods, but they are pretty long for a SB Chevy. Some people are using rods up to 6.25" though. Of course, you will need new pistons with 6.2" rods.
Most people use rods between 5.7 and 6.0", with stock being 5.7". If I were buying new rods I think I would go for 5.85", reflecting my basic indecisiveness!

396 stroke, (+.395") can be used w/6.0" rod (+.300"). The 6.2" rod w/stk. stroke is +.500". So, it is possible, trey. Take care. BTW, ever here the one 'bout arguing on the internet and the Spec. Olyp.?

yea sure u can use it, with am almost custom piston. **** you can do almost anything...
how about the compression thing???
pin gets higher up the the piston compression stays the same all things being equal. piston gets weaker from being so short. whats goin on under the piston dont have much to do with whats goin on over it.

quench hieghts are very very little when compared to the differenaces in connecting rod lengths.
use a longer connecting rods and you'll slap the heads off the car
you can use a 6" rod in a 383 right trey and i even bet that you have them in your engine. difference between a stock stroke(3.48) and a 383 stroke (3.75) is .27 and then take the diff between a 5.7 rod and a 6.0 rod and you end up with .3 add the two together and you come up with .57" of distance that you have moved the pin up in the pistons in your engine. so when you take the number thats even smaller than is used on your engine .57 compared to .5 that i need to run a 6.2" rod in a 350 i still come out with room to spare. so if i cant use a 6.2 rod in an sbc you cant have a 383 with 6" rods. and what about those pesky 396 guys with 6"
