connecting rods...
i'm pretty sure srp makes some racenet has some for a 396 with a 6" rod which has like a 1.03 compression height. which i do believe would allow you to run a 6.25 rod in a 350. as for the why run a 6.2 or longer rod. in the words of smokey i think you know this "longer rods make more power" as for the compression thing i am almost positively certain that the only difference is going to be the pins are higher up the the piston the actual hieght of the piston in the hole at tdc would remain the same because you've accounted for it in your piston height.
long as the piston are the same hieght in the hole and the cc's are the same the cr should stay the same. but i'll agree with you after a certain point you weaken the pistons and compromise street durability and it would be silly in a sense to buy them that long especially since street guys like to use dope and its not real bright to use that short of a piston with juice cause it will likely break easily.

it actualy came out to my advantage-
If i did them theni wouldn't have wanted the 12:1 CR and i wouldn't have got them ported for next to nothing
265 CFM @.550 lift
we werent discussing how reliable it was, or if it was a good idea. the point is it can be done and without too terribly much effort, and can you please elaborate on shooting the piston right out of the block, thats a new one on me.

there is soooo much pressure on that sideskirt on a 396 with 6'' rods

ps-
finding those pistons for that rod is enough to warrant me to give up, grab a cold one and watch the simpsons
I have a chevy 350.
