Confused about spark plug wires

Ok, I'm about to do spark plug wires. I got MSD wires and for some reason I have 10 wires. I know that there are 8 for the spark plugs and 1 for the coil. 8 + 1 = 9. Correct? So what is the tenth for?

From what I have read of other people's accounts, it seems they put two styles of coil wires in the set. One to work with the optispark and another that works with a conventional distributor.

Pre-96 coils uses a spark plug type connector (dual connector) while the 96+(single connector) uses an opti-spark type connector.
