Computer tuning
Well.......i have to get a new program for my car...got the engine re-built. cam upgrade heads and stall and gears in rear....etc....Who should i send it to...i never looked into this before....I see PCM4less, I've already taked we guys at LSIspeed, and also Ed Wright.......any preferences out there......
PCM for less is good...
Don't forget madz28
Those seem to be the top ones on this board.
Have you tried doing your own tuning?
The crazier your car gets the harder it will be to tune it through the mail- a good day dyno tuning with your own stuff could net some interesting results...

Popular software for this would be Tunercat and LT1Edit. A Google search will help you on those. You'll also need a custom cable to interface your computer with the diagnostic port. AKM electronics has them, there's another one out there too, I can't remember the name off the top of my head though.
If you haven't already, check out the Computer Diagnostics/Programming board on this site too,

ok
I hae a 95 Z28 undergoing a engine re-build....cc305 cam...AFR heads.......stock bottom end with forged pistons.....the ususal bolt ons....FLP LT headers.....upgrade in Torque convertor 3000......could i still purchase my own software and be safe in tuning this myself......or is this best left to the professionals...don't want to hurt everything i just spent money on to fix........
The best way to do it is to first get a tune from the pros. If you can get a dyno tune that's the way to go, but if you want to get into tuning yourself, get a tune for all your stuff from pcm4less and then compare it to stock to see what all they changed. Then go do some dyno tuning yourself and look at a/f ratios and look for knock retard or possibly advance the timing a degree or two to see if there's any potential left.
