Compression test

Foot notes: Motor has about 3k miles on the rebuild. Used total seal rings, babied it for 800 miles. Changed the oil to 10w30 synthetic drove 50 more miles stomped on it and get a cloud of blue smoke. Did a compression test on it today and got the following:

#1-149 #2-149
#3-152 #4-151
#5-150 #6-149
#7-149 #8-149

Now Ive done compression test on other people motors before and I usually saw soemthing in the realm of 160-180. These were on a n/a stock motors usually. So now that Ive doen this, what the hell does this mean?, there all consistant with each other but comprssion seems a bit low. Is it b/c Ive lowered the static compression of the motor?.

Re: Compression test

Do a leak down if you want to check the condition of the rings.

Re: Compression test

I am in about the same situation as you. I used moly rings on my rebuild. But after I rompped on it the first time, it blew blackish/blue smoke. I was smoking like a chimney. It only smoked that one time with about 700-800 miles on my rebuild. I got on it on sunday, and it didn't blow any smoke.

Those compression numbers don't look great, but don't look terrible either. Could I be any more vague? How many times did you let it turn over? I am going to guess 2, maybee 3.

I want to go back to the Supershops days on Blanding.

Yea, I let it turnover about 3 times and then shut it down. I think Im goign to switch over to dino again and see fi that helps and when I do my next cam swap and change my springs I'll put on new valve seals.
