compatibility between LT1'S

i have a 95 z28. will any LT1 work or does it have to be a 94 or 95 because of the OBI thing? all i want to do is pull this motor and put the other one in, no rewiring or swapping parts. thanks

Still sounds like an ambitious project, good luck with it.

There are differences, but only minor ones. The 93 was batch fire injection, and the intake design is different to due to the metal fuel lines, but the rest is similar with the exception of the computer/wiring harness. The 96-97 obd2 cars are the same as the 94-95 cars except for two things. The obd2 cars have a crank sensor built into the front timing cover, and they use a different knock sensor. I believe these are the only differences. You did not specify any year, so I covered them all I believe. If there are other differences I'm sure someone will chime in. HTH

The easiest would be another 1995. 1994s have non-vented optis as compared to the vented one on your 1995. Other than that, a 1994 would be basically identical.

thats the thing one is a 94 and the other is a 96. i will be rebuilding either one so the opti thing doesnt bother as i will just buy a new one anyways. a vented one will bolt on a 94, wont it?

with the 96-97's could i just swap knock sensors and timing covers or you use mine out of my 95?

Yes, that is exactly all you would have to do is use the timing cover from a 95
I have a 97 Z and I used a 95 core, the only thing I had to do was to use the reluctor ring in front of the timing chain for the crank position sensor and a 96-97 timing cover. So just the opposite for you.

No, a vented opti will not work on a 1994 if it has the stock cam (even if you change the timing cover and do all the other necessary things). The hole in the front of the cam is not big enough.

Yes, but you need to make sure you get a cam with the long dowel pin.

Gee, you said "no rewiring or swapping parts". Now, it's basically rebuild/change everything. If you do all that, it does not matter what block you use. Just stick the stuff off your 1995 on it.

sorry i should have been more clear. i guess if its just a couple of things like a knock sensor and stuff then thats fine. i just mainly didnt want to have to change harnesses or something like that.
