comp 987's install question

I have a set of comp 987's and have read that u have to have the spring seats cut to install then on to stock heads and then i have heard that u don't, any help would be nice. I plan on putting

heads needed no spring cup machine work? what size valve locks did u use, standard,+.050 or -.050, I know they are 11/32", what was the installed spring height?

Heads were untouched. I think I used 10 degree locks. Here is the pn I used for the locks Comp 614-16. I didnt measure installed height because I only have the hotcam so I knew it would be more than enough. When I go bigger cam, I will measure them. I was shooting for the springs to support .600 lift.

o.k. did u have to do anything about your spring cups/locators>? where u able to use the stock ones? what about retainers, what part number?
