come in if you're running weld wheels

i'm looking at getting some weld wheels. 15x10 for the back and 15x3.5 or 15x4 for the front. where and how much grinding of the calipers did you do to make them fit? did you need to use spacers? if so, on fronts, backs or all four? anyone know what backspacing i need to order for an lt1 car? all i have is a hand file so i don't have anything to grind the calipers down a whole lot. any other things that i missed would be much appreciated, thanks.

You know those heat sink type fins on the back calipers?

Grinded the corners off them.

I had 15x3.5's on the front and all I needed was a 5/8 spacer.

The backspacing for the rears are 7.5 on a 15x10 in wheel.

My experience....

Front:
15x3.5" 1.75" BS. Used a 5/16" spacer, to allow the center disc of the wheel to avoid the spring clip that holds the brake pad in the caliper, and to keep the "knuckle"... the part where the center disc rolls over to become the rim... from hitting the tip of the big horizontal bar that holds the calipers/pads. You will need longer front wheel studs to be NHRA legal. LPE and GMPP sell a 2.67" knurled 12mm stud that will just barely pass.

Rear:
15x10" 7.5" BS. Ground most of the cooling fins off the caliper. No spacer - and not a good idea. The interference is where the "knuckle" on the wheel hits the fins, sort of right on the "corner" where the vertical and horizontal edges of the fins meet in a point. Again, you will need longer studs. I use 3" x 1/2" diameter becasue that's what's in my Strange axles, but you could consider the same knurled studs mentioned above for a stocker.

In any case, with the longer studs, you will have a hard time fitting stock, closed end lug nuts when you run stock wheels.
