Collant sensor question!
My coolant sensor is out and i was wonder if my brothers 98 LS1 t/a's coolant sensor will work on my 95?
His car is being parted out, this is why i ask..
They look the same. So i figured it would work..
Let me know please, Thanks

Re: Collant sensor question!
Which sensor? On your LT1 there are two temp sensors. One single wire sensor on the drivers side head which operates the temperature gauge. The other is mounted on the waterpump and sends a signal to the PCM, which in turn, reads the tables and kicks on the electric fans at the certain signal ( Im 99.999% positive that as it heats up, resistance DECREASES) Basically, the sensor acts as a variable Ohm'ed resistor, that unlike most resistors, looses resistance as it heats up. Call a GM dealer and have them chech the part # for you. Its very possible they could be the same. But at the same time, they could be a newer design which operates at a different set of resistance values, then you would never have proper fan operation/ a SES light is possible too.

it is near the battery. You have to take out they batery and about 3-4 inches down there is a rectangluar sensor with a wire going to it.
There is also a clip on it that you have to take off. Check out shoebox's tech page to under stand more!

and btw thanks Shoebox!
