colder cai???????

Okay this is probrably a crazy idea but is it possible to re-work the a/c to be integrated into the cai. I know this might be a little over board but I have noticed quite a bit of difference between running the car during cooler days as compared to warmer days. I would think anything that would cool the air in the cai would be a advantage!!!

i wonder if that would restrict the air flow into the throttle body?

What about something similar to Ford's AC intercooler for the 2005 Lightning, I wonder if a system similar to that could work for a small HP shot for NA. Not sure if that would add enough hp to justify the work putting it in though, it only adds a 50 HP shot to the supercharged Lightning.

I think that would be considered venting a/c into the atmosphere and thus illegal. There are heavy fines if you are caught venting freon into the atmosphere. But I'm not sure how the freon might affect the combustion stage

how does the ac intercooler work? does it go into the intake or does it circulate through the engine compartment cooling the parts down?

#1 the AC shuts off under full throttle
#2 If it stayed on, the compressor would be killing alot more power than the cold air would help, and the small amount of air that is put out by the vents will barley have any impact on the air temperature because the engine flows alot more air than is put off by the a/c fan.

So to answer your question, it definatly will not work.

okay that makes sense but is there anyway to make colder air and/or faster air without buying a super charger.

He's talking about the cold air that your a/c makes.. the same air that blows on you when you turn the a/c on inside your car.. not freon. He means in stead of it blowing cool air on you it blows cold air to the area around the cai filter.

I thought about that... but I figured... if you roll down your window and stick your hand out... that moving air is pretty chilly isn't it? It's just as cold if not colder than what your a/c can produce so I figure if you ARE going to gain anything.. It would be negligable.. and plus you then have the weight of the a/c system to just counter-act it. If your looking for a faster car.. then just removing the a/c will do more than using it for a colder cai.

okay I have heard of a alteration that you can do to an 98+ about letting air come in above the radiator striaght into the tb cant this be done or is it any better than haveing a ram air scoop under the front left wheel??

lol...please don't listen to anything he just said...after the "sticking your head out of the window" comment, i stopped reading

running the ac robs you of power. thats why you shut your ac off in a race. thus is why i think that if you rerouted it to your engine it wouldn't do anything. the idea was there though

well the way the have the cai designed is rediculous and hardly cools the air... they need to redesign it, and if i had the money i would consider building a better model... but i donno

First off... I said HAND not head

Second of all... if you cut and make an air scoop under your cai in the splash gaurd.. the wind DOES cool the air being drawn in... again all I have to say is

edit - btw.. one guy on this board gain .04 in the 1/4 mile just by adding the air scoop.
