I've had them on almost every car I had. . even my 94 Formula, but it came on the Formula so I couldn't tell the difference.

The larger surface area and freer breathing of the cone will help, but one of the reasons car manufacturers pull air from outside the engine compartment is because you get a BIG boost in power with cold air vs very hot engine compartment air. Your stock set-up draws cold air from under the car....your now drawing VERY hot air directly from the engine compartment. Even with your bigger filter I'd bet money your making less power than the stock set-up. I would either do a true cold air set-up through the fender or run the stock set-up with a drop-in K&N
