I have a moroso but I never really thought that water would get into the engine with the filter in the fender....do you think its really that bad if a little bit of water gets in your inake anyway

You ever herd of a little thing called Hydrolock? It is nasty condition that can occur when water gets into the combustion chamber it can bend valves, connection rods, destroy bareings, and all kinds of other very bad things. Some people dont know it but you can compress water in normal conditions like you can air. So somethings gotta give.

Well honestly you would have to try to ford threw a very large amount of water to suck enough to damage your motor. The apartments that I lived in at the time i started modding my car would flood really bad in the parking lot and i would have to drive threw it every day when i would leave and come home. And now I live in a tiny little town in which the main road into the town floors very regularly due to run off water from the corn fields beside the road. I am just very over cautious when it somes to things like that. I think you will be fine as long as you dont try to drive through 6 or more inches of water. Just use commen sence when you come up to a flooded area befor you run headlong into it and you will be just fine.

well, because I bought my car about a month 1/2 ago and it already had the moroso cai on it, on top of that there is no inner fender wells on the front wheels of my car, so I could only imagine what this filter has been through, or wut type of water it suck up

I dont have the front half of the inner fender in my car either, thats why I decided to make a shorter CAI. If your motor is running on then i wouldnt worry about it too much. Just clean your filter often cause it gets nasty quick without the lower panel in there and have fun. With that panel in there it kinda kills the cold air effect some. You still get cooler air but at high speed I would imagine that it almost gives it a ram air effect without that peice in the way.

Well for the inner fender I would look on the parts for sale forum, there are people parting out complete cars on there all the time. And I would put up a post on the parts wanted forum. As for my shorter CAI, I bought an elbow from Jet off ebay for $35. It is supposed to replace the stock piece of the air intake that is smashed flat from the factory to clear the hood and the ABS box. The one from Jet is nice and round but still clears the ABS and all. Then I bought an angled cone air filter from K&N and went down to the the farm and hardwear store and got a 3inch to 3inch rubber coupleing to connect the Jet tube to the MAF. So now with that installed my air filter is down in the hole about 6 inches and still getting the cool air but its not so close to the road that i have to really worry about water getting into it.

oh I see wut you mean but you got a different cai than me, my moroso came with a bracket which mounts on the frame and then sticks out a little on the outside (inside the fender area for me to mount the filter on it......but my filter only sticks out about 7"- 8"

thanks

Your not going to get water in your engine unless you drive in like 18+ inches of water. Why would you do that in an f-body. That's what Jeeps are for. If you live in an area that FLOODS a lot, I'd be carefull. I live in S. Florida, believe me when I say we get bad storms on a regular basis (thunder storm state, Lightning capital of the countryr). I've driven through everything with the Moroso kit and no probs. And I won't worry about lowering the car either.

I am running a R-0806 That is 12" long and flows 1200CFM.It is a cone type. You are going to have to modify the tubing and lay it parallel with the ground and it will Barely fit.I had the clip off when I did mine and I do not have a front bumper.
