cold air intake

does anyone know if the K&N 57-3010-1 bolts directly to the throttle body or do you have to use the stock tube up to the MAF sensor? If so is this worth buying or is it a waste of money? Should I invest in some stainless tube and do it myself?

It connects to the maf. So you need everything upto the maf. It is worth it and a decent intake, but not the best. The best would be to mod a ls1 type lid to fit on your lt1. http://joelrdevriendt.com/?p=46 If you have a TA with a ws6 hood it takes less modding.

Seems like a lot of work and extra money for around 2hp over the k&N set up from what i'm reading? This true or from your experience does it make more?

I did the ls1 lid swap for less than $200, and it will be more that 2hp at highway speeds. Some people have went from a moroso cai to the ls1 lid at the track on the same day and have reported something like .2 faster in a 1/4 and 5mph. Air flows a lot smoother in a straight shot, any cai that uses the elbow will have restriction. Thing is the lid can be set up to pull air from the front of the radiator with something like this http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/IMGP0844.jpg and it really can not be tested on a dyno; no way to generate 70+ mph wind.
