Which Coil?

ok i got a 94 Z and i have the problem with it not shifting at WOT and and it will act like its bouncin off the rev limiter. I been reading where some people put a new coil on and it fixed this problem. So which coil is the most popular with the Lt1's? thanks

Re: Which Coil?

Where did you read that? Not shifting is a transmission problem, not a spark problem.

Re: Which Coil?

ok so i have a 94 Z28 A4, the problem i'm having with it is that it wont shift when it hits 5000 rpms, it will just start stuttering. It only does this when i floor it though. Today i took off from a dead stop and when it hit 5000 rpms it wouldnt shift it just started stuttering so then i had to let off b4 it would shift and this gets really annoying cuz i wanna be able to hold it to tha floor without having to let off, i mean thats tha whole point of having an automatic isnt it. Does anyone know wat could be causing my car to do this??

and heres the replies i got back:

- Replace your Coil $50 bucks from PEP Boys or any performance shop! My buddy had the same problem and we just replaced the coil and it ran like a champ!!!!

-yup for sure its coil. i have the same problem about a week ago. Replaced coil with a msd one... works!!!!!

Re: Which Coil?

You can always try the coil, but it sounds more like the typical optispark high RPM breakup.

Re: Which Coil?

A spark tester is always a good investment... Don't trouble shoot by throwing parts at it.

Example: http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-Inline-S.../dp/B0002JMIZO

Re: Which Coil?

So... your problem is that it won't rev high enough to shift, not that it won't shift..... Could be plugs, wires, IC Module, coil, Opti, wiring harness, fuel injectors, weak fuel pump, dirty fuel filter, etc. Have you had it scanned?

Re: Which Coil?

Could it possibly be that your tach is inaccurate and you are hitting the rev limiter? The factory rev limiter is 5500.

Re: Which Coil?

No... the factory rev limiter is at ~5,800rpm.
