Code PO443
Code PO443
I know what the code is but not sure why I have it. We removed the air and egr,had it tuned out, and have had no problems to date (over 6 months). The whole time we just ran that line for the EVAP solenoid straight to the TB without code or problem. Now the car is throwing that code and when driving you have to keep the RPMs up or it will stall. Are the two related or no?
Thanks as always for the help.
Edit: Should I just put this back on. I originally thought it was part of EGR but it isn't. Maybe problem is running way to rich and that is why the stall?

P0443 is just checking the circuit continuity for the solenoid, not "flow" or "no flow". Could be defective wire or solenoid, or no solenoid. Leaving the air flow into the TB at all times could cause a lean condition. Or maybe the canister is saturated and its pulling in some liquid fuel.
Well last night we found out that the TPS was cracked so decided to replace it, also adjusted set screw in throttle body till it moved the blades, may not be perfect but no scanner at home. Will set it perfect tonight after work at buddies shop with scanner. I did find the solenoid and hooked it back up. Not sure if still throwing the code or not. The car is running better, but still tries to stall when coming to a stop, just not right away. Also lots of backfire when slowing down while it is in gear. I know in my TPI car, if fluid got in that canister, the car would not run(or atleast not well). I am quessing same with this car?
So where is the cannister, back by the tank?
Thanks again.

Yes, the canister is in the driver's rear fender. There is a plastic cover in the wheel well.
If you think its the vent from the canister, try pulling the hose off the throttle body, and capping the connection on the TB.

I think it might actually be fluid in the canister that I need to drain. The reason I think that is there has been a couple of times that I distinctly remember a small stain of gas back there on the ground after an eppisode of not running right, but upon inspection of the neck and tank, found no leaks. I am going to try to pull that canister after work and dump it out, see if that helps.
Alright, no fluid in canister and running bad was completely unrelated(wire was burnt on inside of header tube so didn't see it). Code went away with hooking the evap back up. Car is not burning my eyes anymore either from running so rich. Good stuff. Thanks for the help all.
