Code p0351 issue
Code p0351 issue
I have the 24x system on my car. It threw a p0351 code. Not sure if it's the #1 coil or the wiring. Can I use just a normal tester light on the connector plug to make sure it's getting power? Or do I need a fancy one? My ram air hood has been cut open to give the engine more air, the code went off when I was driving in the rain so I erased the code and then it came back on the next day. Any help is appreciated!
Re: Code p0351 issue
I suspect the LS1 people would be better equipped to handle this one. Looking at a 2000 factory service manual (don't know what year your PCM is from), the code sets when the control circuit is open, or shorted to ground. The first step in the diagnostic is to clear debris away from the connector. Second step is to insure the connector gasket is in good condition to prevent foreign material from entering.
The four wires to the connector are pink (12V with ignition key on), black (ground), purple (ignition control signal) and brown (reference low - or roughly control circuit ground).
The first test (take connector off, start engine, measure frequency) is to look for a signal on the igntion control circuit wires, using a frequency meter. The correct value is 3.0 - 20Hz.
Second test if the frequency is within range is to measure the voltage on the ignition control circuit wires. Should be 1V.
Engine off, key on:
Test the voltage (B+) on the pink wire. You can use a test light or meter.
Check the ground. You can use a test light or meter.
