Code 51 after mail order tune
Code 51 after mail order tune
Well got my pcm back from a mail-order tune and now i have a code 51 on my 94--eprom failure-- the company that said that it could happen from shipping so now im out $200 i guess my question is could i drive the car with this code or could this cause a serious issue? finally got my car done and now this--- any input would be great thanks
Does it run normally otherwise? I had some codes come up after my tune that have "magically" cleared themselves. Not a 51 though. I just got done driving the car 250 miles this weekend without any codes or SES lights returning. Glad they are gone (36 & 21) but have no rational explanation as to why or how..
Re: Code 51 after mail order tune
No havent driven it yet. Just getting everything checked on jack stands. i cleared it and it comes back. shoebox thats what i said.. 20 yrs of hard bumps and all that moving around and no issues. i made the mistake of not marking my pcm when i sent it out so not really sure if i got mine back. seems to run good on jack stands ne way- guess ill see what happens
Re: Code 51 after mail order tune
EEPROM failure after programming? This falls squarely in the tuners lap. Not sure who you are dealing with, but they need to step up and do some customer service and not blame it on "shipping". That's nothing short of bull****.

Re: Code 51 after mail order tune
i agree. i was w gm for 5 yrs and programmed many modules via tech 2 as well as the new gds- i have been emailing back and for w the company for two days and all i get is excuses-- they probably have a good pcm they can load my file on and call it a day but instead their just being real a******** ill keep it updated
After all you've done, this is what ends up holding you up.
I was nervous about this part as well, but I programmed my own PCM with an email tune and it worked out well. Hopefully like you said, they can just swap you out another one.

Re: Code 51 after mail order tune
haha yep. well im not satisfied with their "help" so im not going to spend my money there-- ill get myself a used pcm and have the car dyno tuned which is what i should have done in the first place but this place came highly recc. off these forums as well as other people i know just a shame about the outcome. But you live and you learn
