Not necessarily. Check for 12v on the pink wire when the key is ON.

Man I just went and re-checked all the connection and then cranked it and it is running so rich it is rediculous! There was pure fuel smoke comming out of the exhaust and it made my eyes burn. I smell like gas bad too.

Alright I checked the power and it is getting power to the MAF. Before today sometimes the engine would stutter or miss randomly but go away and be normal. One morning it did it and the SES light came on when I was idling warming the engine. I gave it 25% throttle for about 10sec then it cleared up and the SES light went off.

Today it did the same thing but started to miss fire even more frequent and then the SES light came on and wouldnt go off and now its telling the pcm to inject so much gas Im afraid I will get cylinder wash if I run the engine.

So Im guessing since I checked both grounds and the MAF is getting power my MAF is toast. Another oddball is even when I unplug the MAF it doesnt revert to speed density, or does OBDI not do that?

Yes the MAF is ported, but it has been for at least 2 years.

I do have a laptop with FreeScan, TTS datamaster etc if need be I can check other things.

sounds like its toast man.

Drive the car with the MAF unplugged to prevent the rich condition until you fix the prob.
