code 48 maf sensor circuit. --

im getting this code. I did drop my maf from about 4 ft off the ground onto my garage floor so this probably caused the maf to die correct? I am getting voltage at the connector that plugs into the maf so it has to be the maf sensor. My question, what should i replace it with? stock? aftermarket? and why the hell are they so expensive? i dont want to drop 270 bucks on a sensor. my cars performance hasnt suffered yet.

thanks

Get a stock replacement... You'll probably want to pick up a used one.

when you throw 48, you also enable the 'feds', and if I'm correct, your pcm uses a correlation between rpm and throttle position to guesstimate the amount of air going into your car, instead of getting a reading from your maf. I'd get a stock maf and stick to tuning your pcm for power gain. Get a used one if you can.
