Question code #42

i had my car scanned today and it happened to throw the code #42...it said the EST was grounded....anyone know what that may be referring to?

From: Hell was full so they sent me to NJ
DTC 42 = Ignition Control (IC) circuit (shorted or grounded circuit)

I had that code for a while, it happened when I swapped the coils in my 95 with the other car we have the 93 formula. Swapped them back and the code went away.

I had this code as well when I changed my Ignition module, I found out they gave me a generic one, I went to GM and got the 97 specific one and it went away. The car stayed in limp home mode until then.

The code may have occurred at any time in the past. The PCM sensed improper voltage to the ICM. Sometimes you can get a hiccup that will cause it. If you are not having any drivability problems right now, just clear it and see if it comes back.
