Code 403/ Can I still go to the track?
Code 403/ Can I still go to the track?
Hey all,
Its test/tune a my 1/4 mile local track. I went to Autozone tonight and I got a code 403 for my SES light. I was told that I have an EGR issue.
Can I still go to the track tomorrow night (Friday, March 18th).
I put down the dyno numbers with the SES light on, so hopefully I'm not getting and timing pulled or anything. I'll have Bryan program this code out later. I just wanted a few other opinions before I took it to the track and possible hurt something.

Re: Code 403/ Can I still go to the track?
NO the EGR is stupid and it won't affect anything. If its running good just replace the valve to get the light shut off or just pull it and all the tubing and block the ports.
Re: Code 403/ Can I still go to the track?
Do not replace the EGR valve - it won't cure the problem. P0403 is for the EGR vacuum solenoid. Either the solenoid is faulty, the wiring it messed up or the fuse that supplies the 12V to the solenoid is blown. Removing everything will guarantee the light stays on, unless you have it "programmed out" of the PCM. Actually, there are a couple of benefits from running the EGR valve.
You can run at the track with no problems. The EGR system does not operate at WOT.
