1st time at track--sound decent?

I posted it here as this where i "hang" out--My sons have been after me to take my work car to the track to see if my mods were worth it--Went last night to Red River raceway--This 48 year(me)," my first time", old lines up against a Trans Am, i went around the water and just pulled up to the line with the help of the race staff- i hit the gas and my car spins its wheel and hits second with my shift kit and spins, seems like the whole way----17 seconds at at79mph--later i talk to that Tran Am driver, he said he would drive my car--he got it to do 13.7 at 103--but he did a little burn out, then my oldest step-son ran it and got 13.8 i believe--Thats not "to bad is it"??? with my mods, street tires and with my listed mods Thanks Dwayne

Yeah its for the car listed, that Trans am guy i didnt know said he would try it for me and thinking back my step-son by chance was lined up against that Tran Am and almost beat him but my son said somehow he knock it into second gear ,(Automatic), so im happier with 13 than the 17 i ran--Maybe 12? Just a dream Thanks Dwayne P.S Dont know what Att. Northen Loiuisiana is but it was a cool night

Your trap is most times a better indicator of performance, than your time.
Your trap does seem low for a cammed LT1 though.

FWIW: Just wondering, what were other LT1/LS1 Cars at the track running/trapping?

Dwayne, I'm over in Ruston and run at red river when I get the chance. If you need some help at the track let me know next time you plan to go.

Re: 1st time at track--sound decent?

Trapping 103 in an auto shows that you probably have about 300 rwhp to the wheels. That's believable with your mods. That cam is probably a TQ monster and great for daily driving, but falls off a little at the higher RPM's which hurts 1/4 mile times. I bet it drives just great though.

What were your 60' times? With an auto, and your trap speed, you should be able to hit low 13's. So a low 13@103 sounds pretty good to me with that small cam.

For some reason i cant find where that guy ran my car at 13.7 at 103, but i found my step-son,s ticket that shows 13.8 at 97mph, but that guy did do 103, my step-son,s 60 was 2.113, both guys i were unflamilar with my car but im happy with 13s--i got the Comp cam xtreme energy cam, but thinking to get the next one up (CC-502)--just for the lope--crazy huh?--its a work car.
