Code 36! Help!

Also, since the engine was rebuilt recently, did you replace the timing chain? Again, if it is getting sloppy, the reading from the CKP and Opti/CMP will deteriorate. Correct?
These are theories, but make sense to be contributing factors.

A DTC 36 should not cause wholesale missing and stumbling.... the actual transition on default to the low res pulse for ignition timing is usually seamless..... maybe a little less power due to increased spark scatter, but I doubt you'd notice it.
Appears there is more than one problem. Something that might cause irregularities in the high res pulse would be a high voltage wire, like the coil wire or a plug wire running too close to the Opti harness, and if that wire was arcing (arc = electric spark; arch = a curved structure.....
), it would cause problems of the magnitude you are seeing.
cool
Now everything is making sence.
I have over the top wires which run around the altenator down the front of the block to the opti, which is beside the opti connector. I really think this coil or coil wire is my biggest problem along with the opti.
I'm going to tackle this coil tommorow. and coil wire.
This site trully rules.

OPTI
Well yall
Great news! It was the opti just as stated before.
When I took the old opti off, the back of the opti that connects to the cam shaft just rotated into the housing, instead of spinning.
I'm not sure what happened or what caused it, but I'm glad I fixed it, cause there is nothing wrong with this baby now, except there isn't enought mustangs around to stomp on.

doesn't it seem like when your car isn't running right that everyone wants to race you?
