It's an opti code. May have been just a hiccup or harbinger of ill things to come. It wouldn't hurt to check your opti harness for any corrosion.

well the car has a new engine and it only has about 40k on it and the car has 160k so im sure the opti was replaced once. could it have already gone out?

Anything is possible with an Opti.... they can fail in a few miles or last 100K miles.

Did you check the connectors in the Opti wiring harness, as Shoebox suggested?
