Code 32 EGR system fault

I've been getting an intermittent SES light, so I bought an interface cable from AKM and downloaded FreeScan. I scanned the computer this morning and the only Trouble Code is a Code 32 EGR system fault. Does this fault indicate a faulty EGR valve, solenoid, or blocked passages? What should be my next step in diagnostics or first step in repair?

Thanks for your advice.

I have been getting the same code the past few weeks as well. I found that it had to do in part with a vaccum line that was not hooked up, but i am still getting the SES code so i am not sure anymore.

WhiteBeast,
After you reconnected the vaccum line, did you reset the code? I've looked at a diagram of the EGR system and it is pretty simple. What I can't figure out is what sensor would detect this error.

Thanks,

After i reconnected the vaccuum line i did not reset the code. How would i go about doing this? Anyway I will probably just have my Auto Teacher clear the code for me. And hopefully this will of solved my problem.

Also, After looking at the wiring diagram for the EGR valve, it looks like the EGR valve wiring is also connected into both O2 sensors, the Canister Purge Solenoid Valve, and Fuse 6 (Fans/ACTR 10A)

So, check all of these connections and the Fuse.

thanks

WhiteBeast,
In FreeScan there is a button that allows me to reset all trouble codes. I'm not sure what program you are using though.
Thanks for the thoughts on checking those connections. I'll look into those tomorrow.

Sabre81,
I think your solution might be where I end up going. How much did the new EGR valve cost you and how hard was it to replace?

Thanks again,

it was like 50 bucks or so from gmpartsdirect.com

took all of 5 min to install. The only semi tricky part is getting the old one off without being able to see what your doing(since the egr valve is located out of view behind the intake manifold).
