adjusting speedo after gear change
ok, ive called every GM dealer in my city here and everyone tells me a different story, i am changing my gear ratio next week from 2.73's to 3.42's, now how and what do i go about adjusting my speedo, one dealer told me that he had to phone GM and has to get a code, and it still may not work, another dealer says i need a module and so on, even one pathetic guy says that i can't do it, im so mad at these guys that no one gives me a straight answer or knows anything, is there a way to do it without having to buy the hypertech programmer as i think it is expensive ( arround 500 bucks) i would like to just get someone to do it the right way and not start screwing arround with my car , any advise, thanks alot for any help...
The dealer won't be able to do it for you.
If you don't mind the downtime, you could send it to me and I can change it for $45 + shipping. Or you could do a PCM exchange.
Other than that, a used Hypertech or a local board member with the right tools are your only options.

Look up in your yellow pages a speedometer calibration shop. They aren't very common places, but they're around. They might be able to help you. Other than that all I can think of is a Hypertech. You can find them on the for sale boards for ~$150.
I was wondering whats the big noticeable diff. between 3.42 and 3.73 which everybody tells me to run, they say 4.10s are to much for a A4 to handle, anybody know anybody that has 3.73 or 4.10s that have problems with it or do they like it?
thanks guys for the reply, i was wondering if i can still buy a used hypertech programmer and do it, this one place told me that first time you use a hypertech programmer it registers the serial number and cant be used with a different car, is that true?
