Code 32 For EGR. BUT EGR IS REMOVED.
Last night while cruising around I got an SES light so I checked the code on my Scanmaster. It was a code 32 for the EGR. BUT I don't have an EGR. I removed it about 2 weeks ago and capped off the vacuum line for it at the solenoid. After I parked the car and shut it off the SES light went off and it hasn't been back on. But what would be causing the car to throw a code for an EGR that isn't even there? Thanks guys.
Its setting the code BECAUSE the EGR system isn't there. When the EGR valve is supposed to open, the PCM looks for a corresponding change in MAP pressure reading. In the OBD-I cars, this test is relatively insensitive, and usually doesn't pick up the missing system. Maybe 90% of the people never see a code..... unlike the OBD-II diagnostic, which seems to pick up the code for about 95% of the cases.
