Code 16 (low res opti code)

What causes a code 16 (A low resolution pulse was not detected by ECM within 720 high resolution timing pulses)? If the Opti is for sure good what else would cause it? Seems to only happen at WOT.

Re: Code 16 (low res opti code)

The PCM is losing the signal.... could be a wiring harness problem, could be electronic interference on the wiring, might be a faulty optical sensor. Aren't you also having the DTC 21 problem with the TPS sensor? Sounds like you might have some wiring problems.

Clear DTC 16 and see how fast it comes back. It isn't unusual to see the code stored in the PCM.

Yes I'm also getting the TPS code. I cleared it a couple of hours ago but I havent floored it yet to see if it comes back. I got this code for the first time when I went to the track but I only saw it once after that and now I'm seeing it more. Heres a thought, could reving it to high cause that code? What happens when you rev a obd1 stock pcm past 7100? my tach reads that I shift there but the scanmaster says it's 200 +-20 off.
