Cobination Motorsports Heads/Cam packages
Combination Motorsports Heads/Cam packages
I was possibly looking into buying one of their cams/heads packages they advertise on their site and I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with either the stage 1x or stage 2 heads they sell. If anyone has them on their car I was wondering what kind of HP gains you got out of either one. Just wondering if the price difference is worth it for the stage 2 over the stage 1X. I also plan on supercharging later so thats why I chose those 2 types of heads. Thanks

I have there Stage II heads, so far I'm impressed with them.
We are still working on the tuning part, times in signature.
Just this past weekend I made several passes over 115mph, so we are slowly making gains on it. That's with the DA over 2000ft.

almost everyone out there inflates their numbers, especailly the cheap crappy guys. Flow numbers aren't half the story.
Phil ported heads to flow 255cfm and the car went faster than the car with 275 cfm. Wierd? yeah. Unusuall? Sadly no.
You pay for what you get (unless your phil and you port your own heads, or your trey and your buddy is a bad *** "head porter"
)I dont know much about head porting except that there are several things to watch for-
1. Velocity
2. Flow under the curve- Like power, average wins , not peak.
3. Flow at lift numbers (if your valves are only opening up .520'', the high end flow numbers wont do you a damn good.
If my heads are ok I'll port them but if one is cracked (I've been having cooling system problems lately and I'm not sure the cause) then I'll have to buy new ones the only thing that will suck is I'll have to pay the core charge and wont get it back.

)
I've got their Stage II heads. I have some 1800x1200 pics here:

That's with Comp 987 springs, chrome moly retainers and all that good stuff. I'm hoping to start up the car this weekend and maybe take it to the shop to get a pre-tuning dyno graph.
As a side note, Seth and the guys there are really great to deal with. They accidentally shipped the wrong retainers on the heads, and when I called Seth about it he had the correct set shipped to me free of charge by next day air. I'll definately recommend them.
