coating valve covers-check this out!

ive been thinking about coating the inside of my valve covers with rubberized undercoating or something of the sort effectively reducing valvetrain noise. i need something that will hold up to oil and heat. does anyone have any ideas?

You could put Line-X on the outside! Get a louder exhaust or, just turn-up the radio.

I dont think you would want to undercoat the valve covers, unless you could ensure that derbis would not fall into the engine.

I have fabbed aluminum valve covers and my valvetrain is loud.

You may have to get heavy cast covers and vave them painted/coated.

I would not put anything on the inside for fear of it getting into the engine.

Oil would decimate the coating in a short period of time and you would have that crap all over the inside of your engine. Not a good idea at all.

Yes, coating is a bad idea.

Besides I like the sound of my valve train!

If you can hear your rockers from inside your car, you may need to check out your train rather than trying to mask the noise. JMHO

My 1.6 s/a Promags made noise like everyone else's. I switched to Scorpion for the added lift and now I don't even notice them.

Why don't you get a set of the black resin (or whatever they're made of) covers. You could probably have them smoothed and painted gloss.

I've heard they keep down noise...
