Clutch,Tranny ?
Clutch,Tranny ?
Clutch is going to be replaced very soon i think i've rode it as far as i can. But today i couldn't hardly get the thing to go in reverse i mean it took a few minutes and was very hard. I finally managed to get it in, but i'm just wondering if replacing the clutch will fix that too or if i've screwed something else up in the process? any info would help, thanks as always..
Could be clutch related, for instance the pressure plate is collapsed, or part of the clutch has broken off and is obstructing it from fully engaging, which is in turn not seting the syncros. If the car only started to give you trouble going into reverse when the clutch was fried, this may be the case. More than likely its a syncro issue. Not to mention that the T56 is known for being stubborn going into gear over time.
reverse doesn't have a synchro, specifically to keep you from
trying to ram it into the wrong gear while moving foward.
that grinding you hear is the gears clashing together, like I
said, no synchro. you have to go into a high gear first to stop all
of the rotation in the transmission, then it should slide into
reverse eaisly.
otherwise, you've got a bad clutch, or bad gears.
