Clutch pedal wont disengage, please help

I know this is in the wrong section, but Im at a friends house and need a quick response. So mods please dont lock it.

I dont know if this has to do with anything. But about a week ago, the abs inop light came on. I stopped checked everything and started it back up, the light had disappeared.

Well on the freeway today the light came back on, when I exited the freeway I noticed the transmission wasnt shifting smoothly, like the clutch wasnt disengaging. The clutch pedal overall felt fine aside from a few vibrations. I pulled to the side of the road. Popped the hood, my master cylinder which had some slight drips coming out the back for a couple weeks, had now leaked quite a bit. My knowledge on cars is ok, but I was pretty certain the master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder were seperate systems. I wasnt anywhere near home. So I asked the guy at O'reillys, he wasnt much help, so I bought a new master cylinder and replaced it in an empty parking lot nearby. I used the bench bleed method on it, and the brakes seem fine. The clutch now will barely disengage.

Im pretty certain it has nothing to do with hydraulics, because the clutch pedal feels fine. Its starting to feel like my pressure plate is bad. Thing is I had a Mcleod clutch installed at MTI summer before last, the pressure plate went bad 9 months later. I took it back to them and they told me it was past its warranty and they couldnt do anything but charge me for another one. I had no choice and agreed to pay. Now 9 months later it appears Im having the same problem. This is a bolt on, mainly highway driven, rarely raced daily driver. I dont think I should be paying for it again. Im going to call them tomorrow and see what they say.

--------Basically what Im asking is, is the master and slave cylinder systems connected? And does sound like it could be my slave cylinder? or my pressure plate like Im fearing?-----------

Clutch problems

What does your clutch feel like? Is it really mushy or is it really stiff? Is your slave cylinder leaking? My slave cylinder just got broke tonight.....guess i put the clutch fork in wrong some how and i had a friend press on the clutch....well he didn't know any better than just to mash it to the floor and broke the slave cylinder....oh well i guess i should have been the one to press on the clutch because i would have felt it and it wouldn't have been broken....

Overall it feels normal. Right after the ABS light came on it felt for a second like the clutch pressure was coming in waves. I havent felt that since.

Im going to call MTI tomorrow, I feel if something happens twice after the same short period of time, the product is defective. Ive already payed over $800 TWICE within a year and half, and dont feel I should have to pay again.

Thanks for the help. It looks like Ill be sleeping on my friends couch tonight.

The clutch hydrolics are totally seperate from the brake hydrolics. Sounds like your clutch slave or clutch master went bad. GM sells the slave and master as one unit and it comes pre bled for about $150. I would try replacing that.

Ach, don't feel bad, I just did the same thing. Friend pushed in the pedal when the fork wasn't properly aligned, and poof, slave cyl in bits!

BTw, any one need a new master cyl. I have one virtually new.

Lucky guy!

I'm done mine now. Fired it up while on blocks. Everything works. Beautiful! Now if only I could get a bit of decent weather; I could try the thing out on the road. As it is now, I doubt I could even get out my road for snow and ice.
