Clutch not fully disengaging
Clutch not fully disengaging
Ever since I put in a new clutch, it hasn't disengaged 100%. It is hard as heck to put in gear and if you let off the clutch even the absolute slightest bit after making sure you have your foot ALL THE WAY DOWN, it will strat to roll forward. The car is an A4 to M6 conversion. I thought it was the hydraulics so I had Dal overnight me the master cylinder/actuator/resvoir hydraulics and installed that with no improvements. Any ideas? My FSM says if the pedals aren't aligned with the cowl it will cause it, band I'm going to check that tomorrow, but any ideas right now? Clutch is brand new, could it be defective? Is there any adjustment, or modification I can do to make it work better?
I just put in a new clutch and had this problem. I worked the pedal several times (50 or more) and then, with the car on jackstands, I used the clutch to put it in first and second. After engaging first gear at idle, shifting to second, idling, and repeating a few times, the clutch started disengaging fully. It seemed like the new disk needed some time and pressure to become acquainted with the new pressure plate. I was told that sometimes it takes a little while for the clutch to fix itself. I don't know if it helps you at all. Good luck.
I didn't see in your post that you identified the brand of clutch you installed. I know that Centerforce had a lot of tolerancing problems with their clutches, which caused them to not disengage fully. I had one in my car that would not go into reverse when the drive train got hot.
If it was a Centerforce clutch you installed you may want to do a search, as there is a lot of opinions on this clutch (most not to good)
