Alright how hard is it to install long tubes??
Well this summer I am going to get some jet long tube headers and want to know if i would be able to install them with the help of my brother. I'm only 18 and he's just 16 but i have done a some work on cars in the past I was just wondering if this could be done in a couple days up on jacks and ramps etc. Also any detailed instuctions i can get in advace will help thanks also what y-pipe should i get?
Its a pain in the rear!! Especially on ramps. I did mine on a lift and it still sucked. Its worth it though. The sound is great! While u are at it, u will need to get over the valve cover wires. Other than scraped knuckles and patience i think it will be alright for u! Remember patience. Mufflex and summit carries a new y pipe for long tubes. Oh yeah also get copper gaskets u dont want to have to replace the gaskets either!
Do yourself a favor and DON'T get copper gaskets. They don't seal worth crap unless the header flange is perfectly straight and flat. I've tried all manner of gaskets but have found that the felpros sealed the best out of those I've tried.
As for installation difficulty, it really isn't all that hard. The key is being patient. You can check out my review of Jet Hot LTs here:
