Clunking noise from engine bay.
Clunking noise from engine bay.
Ugh...I'm getting an odd thumping/clunking noise at all RPM's. It used to come on sometimes when I turned on the AC but would dissapear when I'd raise RPM's above idle. Now it's there even with out the extra draw of the AC. Right when the clunking starts I'll notice the alternator charge (Voltage gauge) will drop below 10v, again usually remedied by a blip of the throttle. Any ideas? I left the car a few miles from the apartment because I didn't want to drive it in risk of further damaging something.
Re: Clunking noise from engine bay.
Yeah, after closer inspection it looks like the hub/harmonic balancer is loose/shaking. I'm going to rent a puller tomorrow and R&R it and see if that fixes it.
Re: Clunking noise from engine bay.
the bolts are all there, and i havent touched the balancer since pulling the LT4 Hot Cam (~30k miles ago) I'll be going under the car tomorrow though...
