Cloye's double-timing?

Anyone using Cloye's double-timing chain? Is it a decent set-up?

Thanks

I run it and love it. Whole lot cheaper than any HD LT1 t/c. Its stronger (IMO) than the extreme duty GM set. Plus u get the option to advance or retard the cam. Simple install also. You just have to run an electric w/p and delete the CPS on the OBDII cars. No biggie, just a reprogram. Cloyes cost me bout 80 bucks

The stock water pump is driven by the stock timing chain (maybe an oversimplified expanation). With the cloyes in place that option is not there and an electric water pump must be used.

Pro: electric W.P. frees up a few ponies

Con: life span of electric W.P. has been questioned.

Under normal conditions you won't know the electric has failed until you see the temp gauge go up.

I'm sure other will elaborate more.

Thank you very much for that insight. I'll definitely look into it a bit more...

The Cloyes part number is 9-3145. Also you may want to look at the new Lunati chain as an alternate option (see new Summit catalog).
