Knock sensor/retard/PCM question...

I have been playing with Autotap recently logging my knock retard problems, and the changes (if any) after I make changes to the car to fix the knocking.

Here's my question:

Will the PCM retard timing if it detects knock when it is in open loop?

The reason I ask, is one day my car sat for several hours to cool off. I put the LT4 knock module in. I fired up Autotap, started recording, THEN started the car...

I was driving along, and getting 0 knock retard. Then just over 3 minutes into the run, I started getting knock retard. As a matter of fact, I had 5 or 6 seconds of WOT with 0 knock, then a coupld of frames of WOT with knock.

AFAIK, knock monitoring is always present and it should retard timing if there is knock detected, even in open loop.
BTW, how much timing was it pulling with the stock knock module, and now with the LT4 module?

I was getting as much as 10.8x degrees with the LT1 KM and 7.xx with the LT4... I have a post titled "Knock Retard Woes" that has my autotap logs and all the info on the stuff I've tried to get rid of it.
