Quick question my buddy is about to put the gm847 cam in my 383 lt1. I'm running 6 " rods eagle I beams . But he wants to know if the lobes will clearance the rods without a problem with this cam or does he have to clearance them? He clearanced for the crank already.

If anyone has an anwser from experience etc I would appreciate it asap

Ya will probably need a small base circle cam(.950)

 

It hit on a car I did a few years ago (847). It was eagle cast crank , SIR I beams and ross pistons. Had to go in and notch the rod bolts. You want at least .050 clearance

 

Depends on the rods really.... 6" doesn't tell us much.

SORRY, they are the eagle I-Beam 6" rods. I was told from a few other guys yesterday they had no problem with the this cam and these rods, they didnt have to clearance anything.

Cam is in, clearance is fine all good didnt need to do anything.

 

What is the base circle?
