Cleaning Heads & Intake while off

Cleaning Heads & Intake while off

What would you guys recommend to clean up the inside of the intake, and the heads?

Intake 1

Intake 2

Intake 3

Intake 4

Intake 5

looks like you had an intake leak. You could bring them to a machine shop and have them hot tanked. Or you could use some degreaser and a brush. Quick question for ya, why didn't you leave the fuel rail on the intake when you took it off? Seems like a lot of extra work you did.

Didn't have a ride to get the fuel line disconnects.

How much would a shop charge to hot tank? I need to take the heads in anyway to have the header bolts that snapped off drilled/tapped.

you could get those bolts out yourself with a drill and a screw extractor. You would have to call a local machine shop to find out how much it costs. Things like that vary a lot from place to place. To give you an idea, it cost $125 to hot tank my block, magnaflux, install new freeze plugs, bore the cylinders, and hone them and deck the block. So just hot tanking your heads and intake shouldn't be much. They would look brand new when done though.

Yeah i had a local machine shop quote me $550 for heads/intake and thats with new valve seals, and the heads resurfaced. Really not looking to do all that.
