Cleaned my maf
Cleaned my maf
My car had been running like crap for a while so I finally had a friend to log some data on it. Found out the maf was reading real low, like 178 g/s at 5200rpm and the O2's were real lean. Cleaned the maf last night at his suggestion and OMFG. Feels like a new car again. Hasn't run that good since I bought it. Wish I'd thought of this a year ago. Thats all. Just thought I'd share.
I popped the screen out by removing the big ring clip with a screwdriver. Then I hosed the whole thing down the brake parts cleaner. After I knocked the loose stuff off with the brake cleaner I took a q-tip and soaked it with the cleaner and gently rubbed on the sensors. They came clean pretty quick. Then I hosed it off again with the brake cleaner. Let it dry, cleaned the screen off real good, put it back together and voila.
Dont take apart the housing. If you have no screen just spray some brake cleaner or contact cleaner in there and spray some on a q-tip and carefully wipe the 3 resistor looking things clean. They wont break if you're gentle. They're stronger than they look.
