Chopping off stock catback and subbing in a bullet?
So I am getting a guy to do a test pipe that I can bolt in place of my cat on saturday.. And my brother told me that i should just have the same guy chop off my stock catback and have him put in a bullet where my cutout is right now. He was saying that the stock catback is pretty heavy and will help me out to have it off of there... I was thinking about doing it anyways because the tips are bent and the whole stock system is really not in very good shape. ANY thoughts or input are much appreciated because if i am going to do this then i need to order the muffler soon. THANKS!

Really! Any pics by chance? Where did you put the bullet and what size did you get?

I heard an LT1 with the muffler removed and it sounded very deep at idle and at partial throttle. Very loud, but sounded pretty good. Not sure if he had a cat still, and I didn't hear it at WOT.

Sorry I have no way of posting pics. I have no cat and the bullet is right in front of the axle where many people put the cutout (i had a cutout before this also). I got the 3" in/out and 12" long. Don't get it if you don't like popping....b/c it pops a lot. I really like it though.

Does the exhaust exit there at the muffler or did you turn it down? Did you go ahead and do 3 inch piping between the cat and muffler? Mine already pops....

I dont have a cat but yes it is 3" all the way back. I ran the exhaust out the back b/c I like the way it looks with tips. Mine already popped too but this is twice as much and about 100% louder. I love it

Awesome. Looks like i will have the same setup as you except i need to find a place to dump it after the bullit... I guess the shop will figure that out. So it still sounds good with no cat and a bullet? And it only pops on decel right? I dont know if i put it in this post or not but i will be running a straight pipe in place of the cat so i will also be catless!

Heres a short video of how my exhaust setup sounds. I am running the dynomax bullet muffler with the part number 24222 with no cat, dumped before the axle. Its normally not poppy but this vid was shot on a cold startup.

Here is a pic of the exhaust tip hanging down. It kinda gives you an idea of where its dumped.
