how to figure out the cam inside, without taking it apart
Bought the car almost the way it sits, added things like new opti, lt4 km, tires, but anyways the car ran the times in my sig with a regular tune from madz28, it also has lt headers, full exhaust, and 1.52 rockers from what i can tell, but that trap speed is pretty high and it kinda lopes at idle, not too loud though, but i wanted to get the tune right on the car, and i need to know what cam is in there. Is there a way to measure lift at the push rods, or another method that i can use to figure out what is in there so i can get it tuned correctly. Also it backfires a lot when you let off the gas.

I just took the rockers off and put a dial indicator onto the top of the pushrod and turned the engine by hand. This way it won't bleed down the lifters so u can get the max lift numbers. I also think thunderracing sells a tool to check the lift of the cam, but im not sure.

Thudner racing actually has a tool for this... "Cam checker" Check it out, link below.

It slides in, in place of the push rod, and rides on the cam. I guess, the intake will have to be off too becuse it says it rides on top of the cam which means the intake must be out. Guess its not worth takin the intake off, although its really not that bad of a job. I pulled mine in like 20 minutes. install is alittle longer cuase u have to clean and silicone everything.

With a degree wheel and a dial indicator you can measure lift and duration.
Put a degree wheel on the crank and find TDC. Put a dial indicator on an intake valve spring retainer and note at what degree lift at the rocker passes .050. The number of degrees between opening and closing is the duration. Then note how much the total lift is. Divide by the rocker ratio and that is lift at the lobe.
