Going about 15 to 20 i can hit it and it nothing but smoke to 50, and thats with an opti cutting out at about 5 grand. I love my hotcam, dont think I would go any bigger. Idle is set at a thousand, and still has a mean lope. I hardly pull up to a stop light or gas station with out someone asking what I've got done to it.

BTW, on the spray it scares me. I've only done it twice because of opti, but , 400+ to the wheels is crazy.

ps 310 hp 325 tq on hot cam with bad opti, through an a4.
310/325 after a Hotcam... Hmm.... I'm doing better than that on TQ with just bolt-ons. Wonder what I would do with a Hotcam?

My optispark just shat itself once again (this will be the second time), so now I'm looking at putting in a DynaSpark and doing a cam install at the same time. I'm also torn between the Hotcam, cc305, and cc503... decisions decisions...

Not trying to jack the thread, but I could use some input too.

I'm probably not going to touch my heads, throttle body, or put in a stall. If I do get steeper gears, I might throw in some 3.23s or 3.42s in the future, but that is a big IF.

It is my daily driver and I often put over 60 miles on it per day thanks to school/work/etc.

Any suggestions?

What is this LE1 cam that Bret mentioned? Where can I find out more info?

def torque converter, some gears, and comp cams stuff is good for 10 year old technology, go with a crane or a custom grind and ull be a very happy camper!

Choosing the right cam is very difficult. Like I just posted elsewhere, make sure that you choose the cam that is RIGHT FOR YOU! I personally am very happy with my hotcam for my daily driver and it was a great deal. However, if you car is not a daily driver then something a little bigger (or a lot depending on how often you drive it and your purpose) is probably a good idea. Make sure you think it through about not only today, but where you want your car to go later on. Good Luck!

LE1 cam is the camshaft thats designed for the stage 1 Lloyd Elliot Packages. With his stage one heads it's around 375rwTQ and 380rwhp or more.... only a very few guys have picked one up to run cam only with it and they dont have it installed yet.

Basically a small stall (2400-2600) and some tame gears 3.23-3.42 would be optimum with the cam and it would really run well.

Ah, thanks. Guess that cam isn't for me then. I'm leaning towards the hotcam kit since everyone seems to get decent results and the package is only $522 plus shipping from www.gmpartsdirect.com. I guess the only other thing that's recommended is the LT4 timing chain? Would I need anything else such as hardened pushrods? My car does have close to 130k on it now so putting a cam in now does bother me a little. I really want to do everything right as to avoid future problems.
